Prepared for Anything Infant Feeding Class

Breastfeeding classes can be wonderful, but they frequently do not sufficiently cover all feeding methods, such as formula feeding, and can sometimes leave you feeling pressured (whether explicitly or implicitly) to exclusively breastfeed.

If you want to learn about ALL methods of infant feeding and feel empowered to feed your baby in the way that works best for your family, this is the class for you!

We’ll cover: ideas/opinions/preconceived notions about infant feeding methods, breastfeeding basics, knowing when to reach out to an IBCLC, pumping basics, formula feeding basics, bottles, safe milk storage and handling, and more.

Postpartum Planning Session

Labor and birth can often be the star of the show in the birth-world. But just as much attention (if not more!) deserves to be given to planning the days and weeks after you welcome your baby home.

Becoming a parent is a form of culture-shock. Discussing plans and expectations with your partner or other support network can help smooth out some of the bumps along the journey. Not to mention, your provider may not send you home with sufficient education and you might not see them again until your 6 weeks follow up. A LOT transpires in those 6 weeks, and you should be equipped with information so that you’re not surprised if/when things come up.

As Brené Brown says, “Disappointment is unmet expectations.” So let’s discuss your expectations for the vulnerable early newborn days so that peace has the opportunity to be present in your experience.

We’ll tailor this plan around you and your family’s circumstances, but some topics we may cover include: early plans and education for postpartum healing, New Parent Leave decisions for you and your partner, car seat safety resources, delegating housekeeping responsibilities, plans for feeding (you and baby!), sleep preferences, baby’s sleep location, identifying your support network, signs of Postpartum Mood & Anxiety Disorders, and more.

I’ll get you started thinking through your preferences and expectations now, so you don’t have to in the heat-of-the-moment after your baby arrives.

*This service is helpful for adoptive/foster families too! Preparing your home and your heart for a big change takes preparation, regardless of how your baby comes home.

In-Home/Virtual Formula Feeding Consultation

Do you think your baby’s formula might not be the best fit for their tummy? Are you needing to switch from breastfeeding to formula feeding and need a crash-course in how to do it safely? Did you just adopt a baby or receive a foster-care placement and have never fed a baby before? I can come to you and work alongside you to gain confidence in feeding your baby.

Most questions can be answered in one of our class offerings, but sometimes families have to make a change immediately, and there isn’t time to take a class. I am available for in-home or virtual consultation during these challenging parenthood moments.
